MOM

Mother's Day is coming up!  It's Sunday, May 14, just in case you didn't know. I don't know about everyone else, but I will ALWAYS need my mommy.  I'll be  37 years old this year and I still need my mom. Mommies make everything better, right? But our moms teach us so much, too.  I think one of the greatest lessons my mom has ever taught me is how to forgive.  I don't know that I have met a more loving or forgiving person.  I know it's cliche' to say, but she really is the glue that holds our family together.

There are times when I think I'm really messing up at "momming."  I often think, "I wonder what my mom would say or do in this situation." It's like she knows what's best.  I like to tell my kids about the time I wanted to go out of town with my friend, but my mom kept saying she didn't want me to go.  She wouldn't and couldn't give me a specific reason.  She just kept telling me she had a weird feeling about me going.  I begged and cried and acted like a brat long enough that she reluctantly decided to let me go.  Well, guess what?  I got into a pretty bad 4-wheeler accident.  I'm so lucky I only have a few scars. Momma's instincts were right!  They really do know what's best for us!

She has taught me how to love unconditionally.  And how to be kind even if I don't think the person deserves my kindness.  I've watched her step up and help others, putting her own needs on hold.

I'm pretty sure I got my killer dance moves from her, too ;)  I know how blessed I am to have my mom.  Not everyone has their mom with them anymore.  Not everyone has the relationship like I have with my mom.  I could probably write a novel on how great my mom is, but this blog only allows so many words.  I'll end with this...hug your mom & tell her how awesome she is.
